Murano vase "Sommerso a bollicine", author Flavio Poli, stamp Seguso 1940s
The Sommerso a bollicine vase by Italian glass designer Flavio Poli, designed for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, is a significant example of Murano glass from the 1940s. Poli was one of the key figures behind the creation of the Sommerso technique – layered, “immersed” glass – which brought a new modern direction to Murano glassmaking.
His works are represented in prestigious museums around the world, including the Murano Glass Museum, the Museo Boncompagni Ludovisi in Rome, the National Gallery of Victoria in Australia, and the MoMA in New York.
The vase is in excellent condition, has preserved markings and numbering, and is a timeless collector's piece of Murano glass.
