FAQ
1. ORIGIN, AUTHENTICITY AND INVESTMENTS
1. ORIGIN, AUTHENTICITY AND INVESTMENTS
How do you verify the authenticity and origin of designer furniture?
Every piece of furniture and accessories in our offer goes through a thorough verification process. We rely on deep knowledge of the historical context, manufacturing labels, specific construction details and characteristic materials of the given era. We focus exclusively on original pieces with a demonstrable history - you will not find replicas in our offer.
What design eras, styles and authors do I most often find in the Lavish studio's offer?
Our curated selection is a bold mix of colors and styles of world vintage design of the 20th century. You can regularly find iconic pieces from the mid-century modern, functionalism, space age or art deco era, as well as distinctive solitaires from the 1930s. Our offer is defined by collector's pieces from world greats such as Le Corbusier, Charles & Ray Eames, Marcel Breuer, Gio Ponti, Osvaldo Borsani or Warren Platner (e.g. Side Chairs). We focus on unique materials - from exclusive Murano glass chandeliers to furniture with exotic veneers to rare Macassar ebony (e.g. French display cases). If your dream solitaire is missing from our current offer, we will search for it for you on our travels around the world as part of the "Lavish hunt" custom service.
Why is investing in premium vintage furniture more worthwhile than buying a new mass-produced design?
Premium world-class vintage furniture from renowned international designers not only retains its value, but also shows stable investment growth over time. Unlike mass-produced modern production, the value of which drops sharply after purchase, designer solitaires from the 20th century from world icons are a scarce commodity with a worldwide collector base. In addition to historical value, you also get top-notch craftsmanship from materials that are no longer commonly used in such quality today, and a timeless design that is not subject to short-term trends.
How does buying vintage furniture contribute to sustainability and ecology?
Buying established second-hand design is the purest form of a sustainable approach to interior design. By using existing, high-quality pieces of furniture, no new ecological footprint is created associated with raw material extraction, international mass production and chemical processing. You are investing in products that have already proven their longevity and, with proper care, will serve future generations without the need to burden the planet with new waste.
2. CONDITION, RENOVATION AND CARE
2. CONDITION, RENOVATION AND CARE
In what condition do you sell your furniture and how do you approach renovation?
We approach the purchase and preparation of furniture individually. We offer part of our collection in its original, exceptionally well-preserved condition with a natural and aesthetic patina that proves the history of the object. For pieces that require renovation, we perform sensitive and professional renovation. Our goal is always to preserve historical value and authentic materials, not to create a perfect but impersonal modern surface. All renovated pieces are immediately ready for full-fledged use in the interior.
How to properly care for vintage furniture (wood, chrome, leather) so that it retains its value?
The basis is protection from direct, long-term sunlight and extreme changes in air humidity. To clean wooden surfaces treated with shellac polish or oil, use only a dry or slightly damp soft cloth and specialized natural-based products, never aggressive chemical cleaners. Chrome parts can be polished with a dry flannel, while for leather elements we recommend regular hydration with professional leather waxes.
3. SHOWROOM AND LOGISTICS
3. SHOWROOM AND LOGISTICS
Is it possible to view the furniture in person? Where is your showroom located?
Yes, personal contact with the design is key. You can view all available pieces by prior arrangement in our showrooms in Karlín, Prague or Bratislava. These spaces serve as a background where you can check the ergonomics of the seating furniture, view the details of the material structures and consult your ideas.
How is fragile and valuable vintage furniture transported?
Given the historical value and uniqueness of our products, we take maximum care in logistics. We professionally pack the furniture in several protective layers before transport. For transport in Prague, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and abroad, we use exclusively verified specialized carriers. This way, you can be sure that the ordered piece will arrive in perfect order directly to your address.
