Erik Šille, born in 1978 in Rožňava. He is one of the most important painters in contemporary Slovak art; he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. In his work, he combines painting with elements of digital culture (video games, comics, the internet)
His paintings are characterized by bold colors, clean lines, and a modern visual style; he also works in drawing and illustration and responds to social and political themes. He has received several awards (e.g., the Tatra Banka Foundation Art Award, winner of the VÚB Painting of the Year).
